Florida Dental Hygiene Laws and Rules Board Practice Exam

In the context of Florida Dental Hygiene Laws and Rules, changing bleach pellets in the internal bleaching process is a specific task that requires proper oversight to ensure patient safety and treatment effectiveness. The requirement for direct supervision after placing a rubber dam ensures that the dental hygienist performs the procedure under the close oversight of a licensed dentist. This is particularly important because internal bleaching involves the use of potentially hazardous materials, and having a dentist present helps in managing any complications that could arise during the procedure.

The use of a rubber dam is also a critical step in this process, as it helps isolate the tooth being treated from the rest of the oral cavity, preventing contamination and enhancing the safety and efficacy of the bleaching agent. Therefore, the combination of direct supervision and the application of a rubber dam aligns with the regulations intended to maintain high standards of patient care and minimize risks during dental procedures.
